A combination of drama, music, literature and movies to tell the various stages of the history of the Cosmos at the start of the history of the Universe, during its journey towards the Earth.
Starting from the Big Bang, throughout the so-called hot stage, we get to the dark age, leaving behind the cosmic microwave background. From the domain of dark matter we pass on to the birth of the first stars and galaxies. The destination of the photon, within an expanding Universe, is the mirror of a telescope. Everything is punctuated to the rhythm of blues, readings from the book Cosmicomiche by Italo Calvino, and film footage from “Annie and I” by Woody Allen and “The Simpsons”.

In a rehearsal room located on the edge of the Universe, among Rolling Stones, beers, Cream, Pink Floyd, Doors and air fresheners, a group of characters meet to sing the story of Joe the Photon.
The band is formed by:
Sandro “Joe the Photon” Bardelli, an INAF research astronomer who addresses the photons in a friendly way, violating their privacy with telescopes, radiotelescopes and satellites, to write about it in scientific papers.
Gabriele “Brian Maggio” Zambelli, a real freelance who briefly occupied himself with Astronomy, then abandoned sociable photons in favour of snappish and ill-tempered bits. For a living, he is currently engaged in Bayesian statistics and eastern disciplines.
Frank “Guitar Blues” Poppi, INAF technologist, between one story and the other, dreams of spending time with valves and guitar.
Nicola “Redshift” Ruggeri, if his head always among the clouds is not enough of a problem, met Joe and was accompanied beyond the atmosphere, until the edge of the known Universe. But this is still not enough for him.
Matteo "Mettiu" Albéri, a guy who, as a child, counted stars instead of sheep to fall asleep. Now that he works in the field of nuclear physics, plays drums, following the rhythm of radioactive decay, like a Geiger counter.
Matteo “Doc” Centonza, who grew upon bread, rock and “torcinelli” and a huge veneration for Hendrix … He loves travelling with Joe in his imaginary Universe
