Conference with interpreting service in LIS
What is time? Time as we perceive it is not always the same: sometimes it seems slow, sometimes very fast. Time outside of our subjectivity is equally disconcerting: how can we conciliate the microscopic time of elementary particles and the measureless time of astronomy? Finally, are there timeless processes? Giovanna Mioni, cognitive psychologist and neuropsychologist, and Emilia Margoni, physicist and philosopher, will accompany us in a fascinating dialogue on time, in the “timeless” frame of the beautiful Villa Arrighi.
Sens involved
Giovanna Mioni, psychologist and neuropsychologist, works in the Department of General Psychology of the University of Padova. She deals with how emotions affect our perception of time in healthy populations or with different forms of cognitive degeneration. She is also interested in understanding which areas and networks are involved in our subjective perception of time.
Emilia Margoni, physicist and philosopher, works at the University of Geneva and with the Geneva Symmetry Group. Her research is mainly concerned with focussed on the comparison among the most accredited theories of quantum gravity, which try to overcome the incompatibility between relativistic physics and quantum mechanics. She collaborates with the daily paper “Domani” (Tomorrow) and writes regularly for the literary portal “Doppiozero” (Double zero).
